EXECUTIVE/VIP INCIDENT SURVIVAL
Incident Survival training is not about theory or statistics, it is not about talking about problems. Incident
Survival is about addressing special incidents of drama or violence and teaching individuals how to survive
the situation. In Genesis Incident Survival courses you don't come and sit and look pretty you get involved
and you get dirty (Figuratively). All courses are proactive and aggressive in nature, and consist of
comprehensive classroom instruction and intense, realistic practical application. With Genesis the core of
our training is centered on practical application and focused on both conscious and sub-conscious
reaction. What are the results of training? Confidence, controlled fear, mental courses of action, and oh
survival!
SURVIVAL
By the terms "Survival" and "Facing the Incident", Genesis is not implying or promoting a superhero
mentality, or a do or die attitude. Our view is that facing the incident and survival means knowing when and
how to flee an area, and how to resolve a situation. It means knowing how to account for, assist and
comfort family, friends, or co-workers during and after traumatic incidents. Finally it means knowing when
it is necessary to fight or resist, and how to correctly accomplish that effort
THE REALITY OF VIOLENCE
Violent assaults, robbery, disgruntled employee shootings, rape, carjacking, natural and man made
disasters, terrorism and countless other forms of violent actions by man and nature are all realities of the
dark side of our society. Such incidents of violence are by-products of human interaction and also the
interaction between man and the forces of nature. Violence or crisis can occur at any time: a masked
assailant enters a bank and flees with and untold amount; a woman is attacked and raped in a darkened
parking lot; a fire rages through a manufacturing plant and employees untrained to survive panic and parish;
a man upset over being laid off returns to work for one final visit and in his wake lay the motionless dead
bodies of innocent co-workers.
Violent and endangering incidents are a reality of life, sad that it is but none the less true. Just as these
incidents are negative realities in life, so is survival a positive reality that gives us hope, and cultivates peace
of mind. In some circumstances being a victim and surviving is beyond our control, but in all cases we have
choices, and those choices are often the variables that makes the difference between us surviving with the
minimal amount of trauma or physical harm, and suffering with disabling injuries or even death.
THE REALITY OF FIGHTING
Genesis believes in teaching those techniques that are truly protective oriented, that will stop a violent
attacker in his tracks, that will destroy his will and ability to continue the attack. Genesis doesn't teach you
how to fight in the traditional sense, why? Because we believe that regardless of the situation or reason for
the confrontation, that when you resort to fighting your chances of success dwindle down to 50% and the
chances of receiving serious damage increases significantly. Conversely when you are trained to defend,
diffuse and escape, and not attack, your chances of success increases to 90%, and the likely hood of
serious damage to yourself is minimized.
Many courses teach the student to defend himself through methods of fighting based on a competition or
art mentality, In other words these courses teach the student to just throw punch and kick after punch and
kick as if in a boxing match or karate tournament, all in an effort to subdue the attacker, pitting his strength
and conditioning against that of the attacker's, when instead they should be training in direct rapid
disengagement and escape.
It takes a good amount of effort and time to learn to properly fight, and because fighting requires the skill
and ability to deliver a blow to an opponent who is also seeking to defend and deliver his own blow, the
student must continue to practice and keep his skills sharp. Conversely the survival skills taught by Genesis
can be learned quickly, can be maintained with little effort, is based on rebelling the attacker and as
previously expressed offers better than good chances of success and survival.
Survival is more than putting up one's hands and battling an attacker like you were in a prize fight or WWF
wrestling, this is in fact what many trainers teach, concentrating on fight skills with little regard on the other
important aspects of defense. Teaching an individual to fight is one thing and if that is what the student
desires there are numerous places to learn, but survival training is another issue and should incorporate
training that teaches not only how to physically defend oneself, but how to offer the best means to avoid
such incidents, or how to diffuse conflict before an incident gets physical.
CHOICES
Life involves a never ending procession of decisions and choices to be made, and situations to be acted
upon, even in what appears to be a helpless situation we have choices. In situations of violent intent our
choices are clear and to the point, we either face the realities of the situation or we don't. We either react
accordingly or we don't. The results of our decision and actions are the difference between surviving
unharmed, physical injury or death. Genesis believes that facing the reality of the situation and acting
accordingly is the only true option to acts of violence, and survival is the only acceptable outcome.
THE GENESIS PHILOSOPHY
Genesis philosophy on survival education is based on the principles of mind and body conditioning and
simulated action, a proven method of training practiced and refined by generations of military practitioners.
Many educators have adopted a lecture only philosophy, weighing the student down with volumes of
statistics, reciting a list of sleepy eyed do's and don'ts, and then sending that student out into the world to
work out his or her own salvation in time of crisis. Genesis operates under a different and proven method
of survival education.
Genesis training is founded on a philosophy I call the "Genesis Survival Triad", this philosophy is centered
on the believe that true personal survival training promotes a mind set of confrontational avoidance, and
diffusion, and its physical aspect is centered on disengagement and escape of the situation.
Genesis philosophy sees personal defense as containing three equal, intertwined and mutually
complementing life skills. These life skills work to engage the mind and body to work as one to avoid or
resolve incidents before they become violent. The three points of the Survival Triad Philosophy that
Genesis seeks to incorporate in our training are: Preventive Awareness; Diffusion; and Physical Resolution.
THE GENESIS DIFFERENCE
The difference is that Genesis is not a traditional martial arts trainer, and do not provide a specific system
we are not a Karate, Judo, or Tae Kwon Do oriented trainer. These forms of training have their benefits
but this is not who Genesis is. Genesis specializes in offering short direct to the point mission oriented
courses of instruction that are simple to learn and remember.
While you will need to practice these movements once in awhile on your own they are not based on
elaborate movement combinations that require months to master, years to fully learn all components and a
life time of continuous practice to maintain and be effective.
These courses are centered around allowing you to deliver effective techniques that will stop your attacker
in his tracks, to end physical conflicts not only quickly but to also destroy the attacker's willingness to
further engage you, while at the same time helping you avoid the pitfalls of being draw into a fight where
you have to stay engaged with your attacker and exchange blows. If Genesis can teach you to stop an
attacker, break his will to engage you in three or four short moves why would you need to learn to square
off and box or wrestle with the attacker. Break and disengage is the key to survival.
Genesis believes that survival education must be interesting, informative, and memorable. Our educational
objective is to orientate and condition the conscious and sub-conscious mind and the body to react and
work together to instinctively and correctly choose the proper cause of action in a given situation, allowing
for the best odds of survival or escape of the situation. Genesis's training is accomplished through the
combination of comprehensive classroom instruction and aggressive situational simulation and realistic
role-playing.
MIND AND BODY ORIENTATION
Genesis believes that what causes us to freeze, or act incorrectly during a traumatic, violent or
confrontational situation is the unfamiliarity of the situation, here the mind not having reference points for
options freezes. Another cause to this freezing process is the conflict between conscious and the
sub-conscious minds attempting to override the input of the other. This results in one or the other taking full
control of the action process. This is in opposition to the normal function of cooperating together and
feeding the natural survival instincts to react correctly within the parameters of specific violent intercourse.
The courses within this series are designed to orientate your mind and body to work together by giving
your mind certain parameters to work with. You learn what levels of conflict there are, how to consciously
and sub-consciously identify them, and how to set in motion automatically the best response that will allow
you to resolve the situation and escape. These courses also help condition your mind for the speed of
conflict at all levels with vital skills that are meant to slow the attack down so that you can see it, such
techniques are the hallmark and key to why special forces military personnel are so effective. This is
important because the body has a natural process for dealing with conflict and danger it is called "Fight or
Flight".
FIGHT OR FLIGHT MECHANISM
The positives of the "Fight or Flight" mechanism of our brain is that it releases adrenaline into our blood
stream that causes a rush of blood to our arms and legs and super charges us to either engage the threat or
flee from it. The down side of this is process as it relates to personal defense is that during the process of
this adrenal release our cognitive thinking becomes shallow we move on natural human instinct, our vision
narrows into tunnel vision, our earing narrows to near deafness, and our manual dexterity and ability to
perform fine motor co-ordination are parred down to nearly ineffectiveness.
The military learned long ago that the factors of "Fight or Flight" and "Fear" override the general training
that the soldier received and that he often would resort back to elemental fight habits i.e. Life threatening
blow for blow exchanges with the enemy at close range. This same condition effects even the vast majority
of martial arts practitioners, who when they are confronted with a fight or sudden attack forsake the
countless months or years of training and resort back to their elemental habits which is frantically and
unsystematically throwing blows, grabbing, and wrestling. What a waste of vital resource since during this
process your body is like a world class sprinter and will dump all its energy and resource in that single
event in order to save itself. In this case who ever can last the longest and sustain the most will win. That is
just crazy.
Genesis concentrates on the mind as well as the body and uses techniques that will either slow the conflict
down or will allow you to implement your defense even when the "Fear Factor" and "Fight or Flight" kicks
in and your mind is in duress. The Adrenaline process is important and can not be stopped, you need it to
super charge your muscles, increase your instinctive reaction speed, allow you to withstand damage to the
body which normally would cause you to stop. Our courses at all levels are designed to help you defend
against an attack, and use the adrenal process in your favor and to use the attackers process against him.
TRAINING FOUNDATION
All incident survival courses offered by Genesis are developed based on a combined foundation of various
martial arts skill sets selected individually, each for its effectiveness for the required specific incident being
addressed and unattached from its original systems formality and modified to meet the required goal of
survival or escape; on military close quarter combat skills; military tactical field sciences; and security
sciences.
These techniques are based on natural or simple movements that can be remembered and executed under
conditions of duress and has the goals of allowing you to escape the conflict quickly in as little movement
as possible or to destroy the attackers ability to harm in the most effective way possible.

SAVE TIME
You save time and learn quickly, because we teach you only what you need to know to stop the attacker,
every time in every situation, so each course runs from a few hours to a few days, not years. This is
important because the chances of you as the average Joe or Jane will not invest months or years or training
to become proficient in a traditional martial arts school, you simply don't have the time, or motivation.
With Genesis Incident Survival Training your learning gets to the point. You don't learn fancy customs and
traditions, you don't learn Kata and dynamic systems. Such activities are beneficial and worth investing, but
it is not what Incident Survival Training is all about. With Incident Survival Training you will not learn to
fight and how to dodge blows and deliver blows as the core of your learning. What you will learn is how to
close in on your attacker, employ your technique and move off, no exchanges of blows, no boxing, no
dancing around. If your attacker does not attack you then their is no need to engage, unless he is blowing
your avenue of escape right? And you should be concentrating on escape and not breaking down in a
conflict stance.
SAFE MONEY
Genesis can save you money because our courses are short and address a specific issue and you pay a
total course fee. The cost for individuals for most of our courses are very cost effective when compared to
the personal hour training of martial arts courses or other security training.
