The Facility Robbery
Facility Robbery is the taking or attempted taking of anything of value from the care or custody of a
commercial or financial establishment by force or threat of force or violence and/or by putting the facility
employees in fear.

Physical Robbery Survival
The courses within this category are not lectures on prevention, statistics on robbery, or a profile of the
robber, Genesis offers specific lectures that deal with those issues. What all courses within this category is
about, is raw to the point training on positive reaction to the actual
physical robbery in process.

Counter Productive Resistance
The courses not only teach positive action, they also systematically break down and reverse the foolish
hero mentality or reaction of some employees to counter productively engage the robber at his level of
aggression both verbally and physically, such actions is the leading cause of injury and death of facility
employees in the process of a robbery.

Survival Parameters
The goal of all courses within the Facility Robbery category is to train the employee's mind and body to
react in a manner that will afford him/her with the best possible chance of making it through the ordeal with
little to no physical injury and to prevent a homicide. All courses overwhelming effort is to train the mind
and body to react smartly even while under duress where the body goes into auto polite and rationale is
thrown to the wind.

Robbery Encounter Philosophy
All facility robbery training offered by Genesis is centered upon and originates from a philosophy that is
composed of four core elements that will allow the student to flow seamlessly from the beginning of a
commercial robbery situation to the point where the robber leaves the facility area.

This philosophy ensures that the employee keeps the robbery moving smoothly and that there is no conflict
between the employee and the robber. All elements are designed to reduce the amount of time that the
employee is in physical contact with the robber and in harms way.

Keep in mind that the skills sets learned are not designed to make the employee look or act weak, in fact
the heart of the skill sets is to develop strength, confidence and a clear mind. The four structured elements
of the Robbery Encounter Philosophy are as follows:

1. Manage The Assault: The goal here is to manage the very initial assault of the robber, this element
emphasises skill sets that calms the mind of the student, and how to  deal with the sudden violent rush or
demand of a robber in the beginning of a robbery.

2. Disengage The Aggressor: The goal here is for the employee to calmly and subtly begin the process
of humanizing himself to the mind of the robber and transforming  the employee from a mere object to a
human. This element also teaches verbal and nonverbal communication skill sets and movements that will
help deescalate the potential for violence or unwarranted resistance.

3. Process The Robbery: The goal here is to decrease the time the robber spends in the facility
conducting the robber. The employee's objective is to get the robber out of the facility as fast as possible.
Here the employee is in control of the tempo of the robbery and the conflict. The skill sets and movements
here teach the employee how to move and respond to the demands and actions of the robber during the
actual process of collecting funds. The goal is to keep the mind of the robber focused on collection and
getting out. It is purpose delays and confrontations during the collection phase of a robbery that results in
the most violence to the employee and customers.

4. Process The Escape: When the robber has completed the robbery he needs to get out, hanging
customers. The skill sets and movements here will teach the employee how to subtly take away all reasons
for the robber to hang around after he has collected any funds, these skill sets also teach the student how to
let the robber leave and discourages hero actions.

The Elements of Force
The element of force is what differentiates commercial robbery from shoplifting and other forms of
commercial theft. Common issues in differentiating robbery from simple theft is the degree of force required
and when the force is applied. A person who comes to the counter reaches over without saying a word
and snatches money or other goods is committing theft. If this same person comes to the counter with a
weapon and demands money or other goods then you have a robbery. As stated previously, training in this
category only deals with physical robbery by a person who is armed with a weapon or who is attempting
to strong arm (Robbery without a weapon).
